Difference between circuit breakers and disconnectors
Circuit breakers and disconnectors are both used for electrically isolating circuits from power source but there are two major differences between circuit breakers and disconnectors:
1) Circuit breaker is an automatically operated device whereas a disconnetor has to be operated manually.
2) Circuit breaker is an on load device and disconnector is an off load device. This means the circuit breakers operate on live system while disconnectors are to be used when the power is off. Disconnectors have no arc suppression mechanism.
